"The Queen with a Purpose"

Thursday, October 19, 2006

This past week I've been reading the book of "Esther", a wonderful tale about an orphan girl who finds herself in a position of wealth and power, and then uses that position to save her people. Though she didn't exactly choose her circumstances, she recognized that God had placed her in those circumstances because he had a specific purpose, a mission, for her. In other words, Esther fully embraced the mission God had created her for.

A key moment in the story is when Mordecai, Esther's cousin, says to Esther, "... Who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?" It's at this point Esther decides to risk all she has, her position, her wealth and even her life, to embrace the mission God has for her.

In all this, I've been hearing God ask me if I've fully embraced my mission. Am I laying down all I have in order to give myself completely to God and His will?

Perhaps this is a question He is asking you too? I challenge you to read Esther over the next couple weeks and see what God has to say to you.
